Secondhand Dogs

HarperCollins, 2023. Illustrated by Melissa Manwill.

I got the idea for Secondhand Dogs from the same place where I get many of my ideas—Facebook. A friend had posted a video about a woman who ran a shelter for senior dogs. This saintly woman had over fifteen elderly pooches living in her house! I loved that she took in dogs most people wouldn’t want, but I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen to her happy pack if she adopted the wrong dog.  Soon I was off and running.

And of course, Secondhand Dogs stars a pug!
